Verse:
2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT)
So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

Devotion:
As we focus on fasting and praying for missions this week, I think the focus has three parts. First, let’s pray bold prayers for the missionaries Harvest partners with. We can ask God to move through those missionaries as they are acting as His ambassadors. We can pray that He would cover them with divine protection, and that He would give them discernment to go where He is leading. We can ask God to provide for all their needs, from financial support, to reliable vehicles, to coworkers to help them carry out God’s mission. We can pray that God’s Word would not fall on deaf ears, but that missionaries would see people respond with enthusiasm to the gospel message and accept the gift of God’s salvation. We can pray that revivals would break out across the world as missionaries carry God’s gospel into places where people are hungry and ready to hear the message.

Second, let’s pray for the missions trips Harvest has planned. Let’s pray that God would meet all the needs (financial, health, strength) of the people who are going on these trips. We can ask God to give them wisdom and discernment in the interactions they have with the people they encounter. We can ask God to speak through them to reach the people they will share the gospel with. We can ask God to work miracles through these missionaries, to see people healed and set free and have a true encounter with Christ.

Third, let’s remember that God’s Word tells us we are all ambassadors of Christ, and that we are the people on earth right now who are called to spread His gospel. We may not all be called to uproot our lives and move to a new place, but we can all share God’s Word. We can pray for the Church in America to be filled with people who are compassionate, courageous, and willing to share the gospel truth here at home.

Prayer:
God, thank You for giving me the opportunity to cover our mission partners in prayer. Thank You for these amazing people who have answered the call to go into all the world and preach Your gospel to a lost and hurting world. I ask that You would meet their needs in new and creative ways, and that You would make it evident that You are at work. I ask You to protect missionaries who are in the field right now, as well as the teams going on missions trips with Harvest this year. I pray that Your Holy Spirit would give them words to speak that would make an impact on the people who are hearing them, and I pray that people would be open and receptive to the Word of God. I pray that we would hear good reports of the way You are moving in the world as more and more people come to know You. I ask that You would encourage these missionaries and give them strength to persevere in the work You have called them to. I also pray that You would remind me, God, that I am an ambassador of Christ, so that I would carry Your Word into the world around me. I pray that You would give me a new courage to share Your truth with the lost and hurting people I encounter every day.
