SCRIPTURE:
Psalm 130:5 I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope.
DEVOTIONAL:
While you are waiting for the Lord, remember to put your hope in God’s word. It can be tempting to go to other sources for a word of encouragement. It’s easy to pull up YouTube or TikTok and scroll endlessly (and mindlessly) for something to brighten your mood. This may especially be tempting when you are fasting, because your body wants something to replace the food it is used to getting. It can also be easy to go to people when we are waiting to hear from God, but only God’s word can truly satisfy the deep cries of our hearts and give us hope in a season of waiting.
PRAYER:
God, let me hear Your voice. Help me to wait for You to speak to me and not look to outside sources for momentary inspiration or comfort. Your word instructs me to put my hope in Your word, so I ask that You would give me a fresh love of Your word, fresh wisdom and insight as I read it, and a desire to bury it deep in my heart. Let me go to Your scriptures with excitement and anticipation because I believe You want to speak to me. Help me learn to turn to Your word before I turn to anything else.
