SCRIPTURE:
Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
DEVOTIONAL:
Are you tired? Are you exhausted? Do you feel depleted, like you have nothing left to give? Exhaustion can leave us feeling hopeless. You may be tempted to believe you have to muster your strength and just keep pushing through the weariness, and eventually, maybe, things will get better. What does it mean to renew our strength by hoping in the Lord? I believe this means to bring your burdens to the Lord and release the weight of them. Allow Him to lift heavy loads you are not meant to carry. When we release the burdens of this world to God, this shows that we are putting our hope in Him. Only then can you see the truth of the second half of this verse. After we have placed our hope in the Lord, we can soar like eagles because we are unburdened. We can run the race set before us and not grow weary, and we can walk with the Lord and not be faint.
PRAYER:
God, help me bring to You the burdens that are exhausting me. Help me lay them all at Your feet. When I’m feeling exhausted, let me remember that it might be because I’m carrying things that You are meant to carry for me. Help me to be renewed in Your presence so that I can be strengthened to continue walking the path You have laid before me.
