Day 15 | Pray With Hope

January 18, 2026

SCRIPTURE:
Micah 7:7 But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.

DEVOTIONAL:
Are you confident that God hears you? What would make you more confident? Does God need to answer your prayers in the exact way you think they should be answered in order for you to believe that He hears you? As a parent, my kids speak to me all the time. They ask questions and I answer them. Sometimes, my answer requires extra thought, which means it is slow in coming. Sometimes, my answer is a no, or not yet. I don’t always answer my kids the way they think I should answer them, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t hear them. You can be confident that God hears you when you speak to Him. Train yourself to look to the Lord while you are waiting on Him for an answer. Don’t give up and turn away from God. Fasting is a great way to train ourselves to do this, because we feel the lack we have purposefully created and it reminds us of what we’re doing. Allow this time of fasting to reset your perspective, focusing your gaze on God because you trust Him to hear you.

PRAYER:
God, I don’t always know if You hear my prayers. Sometimes, it can seem like you aren’t listening and I can get frustrated and turn my gaze and my requests elsewhere. I’m sorry for the times I have done this instead of choosing to trust in Your word and in Your time. I know You may not answer my prayers the way I want, and that Your ways are not my ways, but right now, I choose to look to You. I choose to be confident in Your ability and Your desire to hear me. Thank You for always listening to my voice.
