We Were Meant To Do Life Together

Posted on February 5, 2019 by Justin Serrano

My favorite part of my week is when I get to attend my Life Groups. Yes, you read that right, I said groups, as I belong to two different Life Groups. If you have been attending Harvest for a while then you may know about the awesome Life Groups that we have. If you are new to Harvest, however, you are going to want to join a Life Group for many reasons. Not only are these groups an extension of our Sunday service, they are a great way to meet other people who attend the church. Sure, Pastor Jason has us greet others on Sunday morning, but those couple of minutes are never enough time to truly get to know one another.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. —Acts 2:42

What are Life Groups?

Harvest’s Life Groups are small groups of people who meet regularly to make a difference in the community, develop friendships with each other and challenge each other to be more like Christ.

For me personally, Life Groups are an extension of Sunday morning and so much more. I love that I can get together with other believers over food for great conversations and learn about walking with Christ. I think the prayer time is what I like the most as I can bring my troubles and have others pray for me. Plus, I love praying for others and then celebrating with them when prayers are answered.

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. —Proverbs 27:17

Although I have only been attending Harvest for a year, it was through their Life Groups that I have met other people. I still attend my Life Group from a church that I attended for 21 years as these friends are my “family” and have been there for me through the tough times and also through the good times—I know that lasting friendships are made at Life Groups.

If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them. —Ecclesiastes 4:10

Life Groups for all Ages

At Harvest there are Life Groups for all ages. I love that I can attend a group with my husband at the church while my kids attend a Life Group for kids. Then another day, my teen can attend a Life Group for middle and high school kids. There are even Life Groups just for men or just for ladies. Sometimes the Life Groups are for learning while others are just for fun, like the cooking Life Group. But the one thing that all Life Groups have in common is the great support for helping one another. In fact, I always leave my Life Group in a good mood.

It was the first session so we got to know each other and we watched a video about the book. Then we had some great discussions. If you have not selected a Life Group, we meet in the sanctuary and childcare is available too. There is plenty of room so everyone is always welcome!

So, check out a Life Group and don’t do life alone. The current Life Groups just started and you are always welcome to join at any time. If your life is too busy right now, there will be new groups starting up in March.
