Trunk-or-Treat 2018: Another Opportunity to Let Our Light Shine

Posted on November 1, 2018 by Justin Serrano

I can’t speak for everyone who served at Trunk-or-Treat, but I know I certainly had the best time face-painting, and sometimes hand-painting, the little ones. Seeing their faces light up after watching their chosen cupcake or pumpkin dreams come to life made all our hard work pay off. Not only did I get to play a small part in making them happy, but they looked at me with stars in their eyes like I was the Leonardo da Vinci of face-painting.

I’ll admit, not every masterpiece was a Monet or Rembrandt, but something more like a Picasso. After a generous layer of glitter, however, all was forgiven. Best of all, you couldn’t even tell if a pumpkin’s eye was dripping off of its face because the glitter did an incredible job of distracting from any mishaps. Thank God for glitter! Aside from all the glitz and glam, I also had the opportunity to meet other Dream Team members and make new friends.

My face painting adventures are only one perspective of the night, but I know many of you have similar stories of making the day for an adorable princess or super hero and watching their faces light up as well. Plus, it’s always a bonus to see the Harvest family pull together for big events like this. The truth is, it wouldn’t be possible without you! More Harvest team members signed up this year than ever before, coming in at just a little over 100. Bravo!

I love this church! Growing up, I have attended different churches my whole life and Harvest is the friendliest and most hospitable I have ever experienced. I have never felt so comfortable and welcomed in a church as I have tonight. –Trunk-or-Treat Guest

Any opportunity to let our light shine and show the love of Christ to our community is always our aim, even with Trunk-or-Treat. By the end of the night, we had the opportunity to serve approximately 1,500 people. We may never know whose lives we might touch in our outreach efforts, but as we do our part to reach the lost, I know the Lord of the harvest will always do His part to make our labor a success.
